Generalized Solutions to Semilinear Elliptic Pde with Applications to the Lichnerowicz Equation

چکیده
In this article we investigate the existence of a solution to a semi-linear, elliptic, partial differential equation with distributional coefficients and data. The problem we consider is a generalization of the Lichnerowicz equation that one encounters in studying the constraint equations in general relativity. Our method for solving this problem consists of solving a net of regularized, semi-linear problems with data obtained by smoothing the original, distributional coefficients. In order to solve these regularized problems, we develop a priori L∞-bounds and suband super-solutions to apply a fixed point argument. We then show that the net of solutions obtained through this process satisfies certain decay estimates by determining estimates for the suband super-solutions and utilizing classical, a priori elliptic estimates. The estimates for this net of solutions allow us to regard this collection of functions as a solution in a Colombeau-type algebra. We motivate this Colombeau algebra framework by first solving an ill-posed critical exponent problem. To solve this ill-posed problem, we use a collection of smooth, ”approximating” problems and then use the resulting sequence of solutions and a compactness argument to obtain a solution to the original problem. This approach is modeled after the more general Colombeau framework that we develop, and it conveys the potential that solutions in these abstract spaces have for obtaining classical solutions to ill-posed non-linear problems with irregular data. A two-phase free boundary problem for a semilinear elliptic equation
In this paper we study a two-phase free boundary problem for a semilinear elliptic equation on a bounded domain $Dsubset mathbb{R}^{n}$ with smooth boundary. We give some results on the growth of solutions and characterize the free boundary points in terms of homogeneous harmonic polynomials using a fundamental result of Caffarelli and Friedman regarding the representation of functions whose ...

This study concerns the existence and multiplicity of positive weak solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions. Our results is depending on the local minimization method on the Nehari manifold and some variational techniques. Also, by using Mountain Pass Lemma, we establish the existence of at least one solution with positive energy.
متن کاملBifurcation Method for Solving Positive Solutions to a Class of Semilinear Elliptic Equations and Stability Analysis of Solutions
Semilinear elliptic equations are ubiquitous in natural sciences. They give rise to a variety of important phenomena in quantum mechanics, nonlinear optics, astrophysics, etc because they have rich multiple solutions. But the nontrivial solutions of semilinear equations are hard to be solved for the lack of stabilities, such as Lane-Emden equation, Henon equation and Chandrasekhar equation. In ...

We establish some framework so that the generalized Conley index can be easily used to study the multiple solution problem of semilinear elliptic boundary value problems. Both the parabolic flow and the gradient flow are used. Some examples are given to compare our approach here with other well-known methods. Our abstract results with parabolic flows may have applications to parabolic problems ...
